How to Apply

  • Return the completed application (PDF) along with the application fee of $1,200.00 to Alamosa County Treasurer 8999 Independence Way STE 104, Alamosa, CO 81101 to the attention of Stephanie Wright.

  • The deed process can take approximately six to nine months, given no unforeseen issues. The auction takes place four months (120 days), after the first date of advertising. Advertising is initiated as soon as the title search and certified mailings are complete. 
  • The auction for the Treasurer's Deed will take place if we do not receive the redemption payoff prior to the execution date.

Reminders

  • A Treasurer's Deed is an unmarketable title for at least seven years. You may deed the property to another individual; however, you may not warrant the title. Please contact an attorney or title company for further information. The Treasurer's office cannot provide legal advice. 
  • If the certificate is redeemed prior to the deed issuance, you will receive your investment, interest and your application fee in full. Premium bids are not included in the redemption and no interest is earned on the application fee. 
  • Upon completion of the auction for a certificate of option for Treasurer's Deed, you will receive your investment, interest, and application fee in full. Alternately, you may choose to take ownership of the property for the auction purchase price.  
  • All current taxes and junior tax liens must be endorsed prior/along with your Treasurer's Deed Application. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact our office.
  • Treasurer's Public Auctions can be continued by the Treasurer for any reason deemed good cause at any time before the commencement of the Public Auction. (CRS 39-11.5-106)
