ADMINISTRATION > Accounting Department
The Accounting Department is responsible for the collection of
data concerning financial resources, obligations and net resources
of the County. The data will provide a new source of information
for the County Commissioners and assures property custodianship of
the resources. The department also maintains and prepares records
for the annual audit.

The Human Resource Coordaintor is responsible for employee payroll,
employee benefits and maintaining all personnel files.
2006 Accomplishments
- Continued to host trainings with department heads and supervisors in the areas of workers compensation, FMLA, ADA, etc.
- Continued to host meetings with employees to educate them on benefits that are offered and explain their own selection of benefits.
- Continued to update all personnel files.
- Continued to upgrade job descriptions for all personnel.
- Web site has allowed an alternative method for job applications.
- Accomplished all ACS software updates.
- Implemented GASB 34 financial reporting for year end 12/31/05
2007 Goals
- To continue training with elected officials, department heads, and supervisors on workers compensation, FMLA, ADA, new fair labor standards laws.
- To continue to host meetings to inform employees of benefits that are offered by the County and to explain their own benefit selections.
- Begin the process of creating forms and a procedural manual specific to the accounting department.
- Complete the revision of the Alamosa County Policy and Benefit handbook.
- To continue updating county infrastructure records for early implementation of GASB 34 infrastructure reporting.
- Continue to maintain and update new web page including job announcements.
- Implement intra county web system for all employees.
- Implement pay plan.
